Shrimp Pasta Recipe

Shrimp is one ingredient that every kitchen should have. It can easily be incorporated in different kinds of dishes, is easy to cook and is highly nutritious. Shrimp scampi is low in saturated fat and is also a good source of niacin, iron, phosphorus, zinc and selenium. One versatile way that you can cook shrimp is to use it in a shrimp pasta recipe.

One of the easiest to do is the garlic shrimp pasta recipe. For this, you will need –

1 lb medium to large shrimp, deveined and with the tails removed

1 lb pasta noodles (spaghetti or linguine)

6 to 8 garlic cloves, finely minced

¼ cup of butter

Italian seasoning

Red chilli flakes

Fresh ground pepper

Salt

To make this dish, first add pasta to boiling water and wait until it becomes al dente. Drain the pasta but save 1 cup of pasta water. While the pasta is boiling, melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook until the shrimp turns pink and starts to curl. Add garlic and oil. Add the pasta to the skillet and mix in the seasonings. Slowly add the pasta water. The dish shouldn’t be dry but shouldn’t be swimming in water either. Continue tossing all the ingredients until they’re well incorporated. Sprinkle with herbs and some parmesan cheese and enjoy it hot.

Another great but easy to make shrimp pasta recipe is the Shrimp and Sweet Red Pepper Linguine. For this dish, you will need –

½ lb medium sized shrimp, peeled and deveined

½ lb linguine, cooked

1 large sweet red pepper, cut into thin strips

4-5 cloves garlic, minced

½ cup onion, roughly chopped

¼ cup pure olive oil

2 tbsp Italian parsley, chopped

Salt and pepper

Parmesan cheese

Start by heating oil in a large skillet. Add garlic and stir until it turns golden. Add the onions and peppers and cook until tender. Add the shrimp, salt and pepper. Cook the shrimp from 4 to 5 minutes or until it turns pink. Serve over hot linguine. Toss and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

Using basically the same ingredients, you can do another shrimp pasta recipe by heating oil in a sauté pan and adding the onion, garlic and pepper. Saute for one minute, add shrimp and cook for 2 minutes. Add half a cup of butter, half a cup white wine, parsley and salt. Simmer and top over pasta.

You can still make a delicious pasta dinner even if you’re press for time by doing this quick and easy shrimp and pasta recipes. While cooking the pasta of your choice, add olive oil, butter, garlic and Italian seasoning to a skillet over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 10 to 15 minutes for all the flavours to mix in. The amount of olive oil and butter you use depends on how much you love them in your dish. Top your pasta with the shrimp and olive oil-butter sauce and sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Serve with a side of greens or sweet corn.
