The cheesy shrimp and grits recipe is one way to prepare that wondrous meal and recipe. In order to prepare and make this recipe, the following ingredients are needed:
-
three cups of chicken broth
-
one cup of uncooked quick-cooking grits
-
half teaspoon salt

two pounds of medium shrimp that should be peeled and deveined
-
one tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
-
two teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce

two tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley
-
six greens onions which should be chopped

To prepare this meal, the following steps should be performed. Using medium-high heat, boil the chicken broth and stir in grits and then cook for about five to seven minutes until the mixture becomes thick. Next, take away from heat and add up some salt, ground pepper and butter. Then, stir until mixed well. After that set aside the mix but make sure to keep it warm. Cook the bacon for three minutes until crispy. Cook the shrimp for three minutes until it turns pink then add some lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, parsley and onions while occasionally stirring and then add the bacon up. To serve the dish, ladle the grits to plates and put the shrimp mixture on top.
Another way to prepare the famous recipe is by using ingredients to make it more flavorful like being spicy. The spicy shrimp and grits recipe can be prepared for about forty minutes and is good for four servings. The ingredients that will be needed are:
-
six cups of water
-
one can of evaporated milk
-
one and a half cups of quick-cooking grits
-
one and a half cups of grated white cheddar cheese
-
five pieces of bacon that should be sliced and chopped
-
two cups of mushrooms which should be sliced
-
one cup of chopped onion
-
three-fourth cup of chopped bell pepper
-
two and one-fourth cup of chopped plum tomatoes
-
one pound of uncooked large shrimp and make sure to devein and peel
-
a tablespoon of hot pepper sauce.
Put in water and milk in a large sauce pan and let them boil. While the mixture is boiling beat in some grits, reduce the heat. Simmer the mixture while occasionally stirring until the mixture turns thick which takes for about twenty minutes. Once the mixture thickens, add the cheese and then season with salt and pepper. Next sauté the bacon until crispy and then set aside. Use a large pan to mix the mushrooms, onions, bell pepper, and tomatoes then season with salt and pepper according to taste. Then sauté until the vegetables become tender and the sauce gets thick. This process will take about twelve minutes. Once the sauce is thick, add up the shrimp, some hot sauce and tomatoes. Sauté the mixture for about four minutes until the shrimp turns a little pink. Now the meal is ready to be served. Put in hot grits onto the plates and then top with shrimp and the sauce.
